Neil Foley is the Founder and Owner of Your Biography. The business started trading during the pandemic in June 2021.
Your Biography interviews people about different aspects of their lives to record their memories (audio) so that their family and other loved ones can appreciate them; either whilst they are still alive or perhaps once they have passed away; providing a source of comfort in their absence.
The first niche is retired or semi-retired people, i.e. those people who have a lot of life to reflect upon (not necessarily retired!).
People would just fancy the idea of having your own life story told, either for them to keep or to give to their loved ones - here and now.
ALSO:
People who:
Are in the early stages of dementia and want to record their life before their memory fades
Have had a near-death experience and they feel inspired to share their life story with family and close friends
Have reached the grand age of 100+ years old
Who want to have the opportunity to communicate from the grave – talking frankly about some aspects of their life that they aren’t comfortable talking about face-to-face with family members, so that their friends and family can listen to them talk once they've passed away.
Have perhaps you’ve been diagnosed with a terminal illness and have limited time left
Write a personal diary (hand-written or word-processed) or blog - by having an audio interview reflecting on their written content, it could bring an added dimension to their thoughts.
Adult children, often say, “I wish that I’d asked Mum/Dad more about their life…….but s/he's gone now.”
When a person has passed away, the memories can be listened to again and again and can comfort those left behind, both during and after grieving.
Perhaps a person was very young when their granddad or nana passed away and they feel that they're lacking a full appreciation of them. Listening to their voice may fill a void.
Drawing upon the founder's past radio experience and high-level ICT skills (Information Professional), whilst others in this particular marketplace offer biographical services in the form of a customised book of a person's life, Your Biography's offering is a personalised, digitally-edited audio recording of the interview, packaged on an 8Gb branded memory stick or as a series of CDs with the interviewee's photograph on the cover. So, when listening to it, it would be rather like listening to a polished, edited radio programme.
